    Re-Elect Ian McGrath

    For Councellor, Ward 3

“Ian’s a good neighbour.” That’s how people describe him. If you’ve met him already, you can see he has a genuine interest in others and a passion for serving his community. From leading post-storm clean-up efforts and community advocacy groups, to simply connecting with neighbours to solve problems, Ian takes pride in his town.

Growing up in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Ian says getting to know people, pitching in when there’s a need, and helping make your community better is just what you do. You get to meet others and learn something along the way.

Ian and his partner, Tammy, moved here with their dog, Marlowe, for the quality of life that only Truro can oer. They were looking to put down roots and wanted a community where neighbours respect, value, and care for each other. They found just that in their home on east Prince Street.

Ian has made an impact on council

Since joining Council in November 2023, Ian has already made a dierence. He has quickly made a name for himself as a strong advocate for aordable housing, accessibility, public transportation, and transparency around town decision making.

Ian’s hands-on leadership resulted in a preliminary framework for increasing aordable housing, the removal of several outdated bylaws, and increased community engagement. Additionally, Ian serves on the following committees: Active Transportation, Diversity Advisory, Climate Sustainability, and the African Nova Scotian Community Strategy. He has also forged valuable partnerships with other members of government, local business leaders, and community stakeholders.
